ouch the fingers on my paa...
copyright ni gloi yun.siyempre, 'di rin ako pahuhuli with my toes-on-your-hands hirit.ano ba kasi ang toes sa tagalog?it's one of those times when you just can't seem to find the right word but you know it exists, somewhere.the tip-of-the-tongue phenomenon strikes again.nasan ba kasi ang dulo ng dila at hanggang ngayon ay di ko pa rin alam kung ano ang toes sa tagalog?

last night, some of my officemates and i went ice-skating.today, some of my officemates and i are bruised and black and blue all over. i fell down twice. and it wasn't the mortifying kind of falling on your face and having your front jaw squashed but it was equally as painful. you know, the kind of pain that would make sitting down unbearable. sometimes, i swear i could still feel the impact of my butt hitting the ice. and as if it wasn't bad enough that a rink full of people were witness to that particular embarrassment, children who weren't even half my age yet could manage to go around in circles and do that pirouette on ice.showoffs.
while trying to hold on to the railings for my dear life, i kept telling myself that it was all about mind over matter, that if i imagined myself to be some olympic gold medalist figure skater, i might be able to do a double-axle by the end of the night. it's just like walking, only you're walking on ice and you' don't walk, but you skate. sometimes, i would be able to let go of the railings and head to the center but just when i realize i'm holding on to nothing, i fumble and i panic trying to get back to the sidelines. most of the times i slipped and fell was when i tried getting back to the railings. let go na kasi.
but some things are easier said than done, especially when fear gets in the way.i'm beginning to realize that most of the time, we can't do the things we want to, not because we can't but because we are afraid. we're afraid to try out something new, brave the unfamiliar. it's so easy and convenient to be complacent, to just stick to what we've been used to.we do fine with it anyway. but what if we can do better with something new? we'll never know, won't we? because we want to stay on the sidelines and cling to the railings.
if we learned to skate first before we walked, would we be as afraid of walking on the ground as skating on ice?
i wouldn't know.all i know is that if i keep clinging to this railing, other people will keep skating by and me, i'd miss knowing what it's like to dance on water.
