someone's smug and smiling
and it's not just my cat lucky who finally got lucky!he still makes those strange noises but he looks more contented nowadays and he actually seems to be grinning.or maybe i'm just projecting.there's nothing like a huge block of cadbury milk chocolate and a concert under the stars to make a girl happy.

my officemates and i watched mona lisa smile last friday.there was nothing really spectacular or extraordinary about the movie. in fact i am inclined to agree with observations that it tries to be like dead poets' society. but i enjoyed the movie nonetheless, giving me a new take on feminism.
pero hindi ako kagaya ni jeline o ni sigh who've had formal studies on the topic. basta para sa akin, i believe, with my limited concept of feminism, that i'm a moderately reasonable feminist lalo na pag women's rights ang pinag-uusapan.although i am an advocate of equal opportunities for men and women, especially in the workplace, i still believe that certain responsibilities and rituals defined by gender must be upheld (like courtship and filial roles).at dahil dun, feeling ko i can claim to be a feminist.
but after hearing julia roberts break off her engagement and profess her need for freedom, eh bigla akong nagkaroon ng epiphany.sure, women of our generation seem to have successfully liberated themselves from sexist notions about their gender that prevented those before them from pursuing careers outside the home and creating a niche in the corporate world. nowadays, women can do almost anything - we can vote, we can take all the graduate studies we want, travel whenever we feel like it and even be a boss of men(nyahaha!).
but for most women, kasama na ako dun, we have yet to outgrow the notion that we need men to find, ahem, "meaning". pero teka, i'm not discarding love altogether because right now, i think i am in love and i'm sure that i want to stay blissfully in love with someone in the future. what i'm saying, i guess is that landing a man shouldn't be the ultimate defining moment of our lives.
i don't need a man's affirmation to know that i am beautiful and that i am worth a lot. matagal na sa akin sinasabi yun ng nanay ko. i don't need a man's affection to feel secure and loved. i have my family, my friends and my cats at siya, no matter how wonderful and great he might be,dagdag na lang sa napakaraming biyayang meron ako.i am and can be the best me that i can be kahit walang creamsilk, kahit wala siya.pero kung darating siya and my life is enriched by him, eh di sasabihin ko, maraming salamat sabay kiss at hug.hahaha.
