gay cats, magic mic and ring-shopping
over the weekend, i decided to take my cats back to my tita where they can be better taken care of. i've been feeling guilty these past few days for neglecting them and not being able to take care of them properly so i decided to turn them over to my tita. they put up a fight when i tried to get them into the cab and i have two scars at my back to show for it. the people who saw me struggling with my two squirming cats where laughing when they escaped and i ran after them. so i decided to put one in the bag and hold the other by the skin at the back of their neck. it was a good thing the driver had cats of his own (his kid would cry when he would take them out he said) that he didn't get mad when one my cats sank its claws on his shoulder. he didn't even complain about the cat hairs that were strewn at the back seat but he just cleaned them quietly when i got off.
anyway, when i go the cats in my tita's house, her cat, a male gray tabby was sniffing my cats, one was a female calico and the other was a white male. my tita says the white one probably looked so pretty and attractive to her cat that he began sniffing him and making flirty cat calls.we would shoo him away but he always came near the white one and kept on ignoring the calico.finally, he stood at the back of my white cat and began what i could only assume is a mating ritual stance.ooh i felt bad for my calico, trapped in the house with two boys but none of them interested in her.as if it's not enough that homosexuality has taken over homo sapiens, now it's spread to felines as well.maybe this is the reason why dinosaurs became extinct - one day they all decided they liked guys and stopped reproducing altogether.

last friday, majo, metz, edward, louie and ria, came over for mabel and my pre-housewarming (a.k.a. despedida de soltera) party. mabel prepared ref cake and cheese sticks while i cooked spaghetti which spaghetti-lover edward said was heavenly and metz had second(third?) helpings of. when i told my mom i cooked spaghetti, she replied, spaghetti lang? yes, perhaps for a cook like my mom spaghetti might seem like boiling water but for someone like me whose idea of cooking is instant pancit canton, that was feat worthy of a post.haha. i told her, at least i've added a new dish to my repertoire and when i get married, my husband and i wouldn't have to subsist on adobo, fried chicken and canned goods. she didn't reply, choosing to ignore my marital jibe.
sayang you couldn't be there gloi (don't worry, i took pictures of everything, including the food so you can feel as if you're there when you see them). majo brought her magic mic and we were at it from late afternoon til midnight - it's a good thing we have understanding neighbors or we would've been yelled and cast tomatoes at.and as if that wasn't enough, metz, edward and louie spent the night at the house and kept me company while i (pretended) to work. hay naku, for those people who didn't come but said they would should feel guilty. i only had two hours of sleep just to get things ready and be the perfect party hostess. if there's one thing i hate it's people who can't keep their word, especially, people i trust. because when people say one thing, i believe them and i try to keep my end of the deal even if it means going without sleep and being exhausted and hungry.

i went along with my tita and her fiancee when they went shopping for a wedding ring. while they were looking, i ended up buying a ring for myself.i was briefly reminded of the credit card ad where the girl was buying a ring for herself. i liked that ad because it illustrates the increasing independence and self-reliance of women these days while. at the same time, it attempts to dismiss the pervading notion that men should lavish women with gifts so that if there's no guy, they feel sorry for themselves. para cual es mi dinero? i have an officemate who has her own car and her own house and is worried that this might discourage guys from pursuing her because she's more stable. crap. why should she apologize for her success? she worked hard for it and these days of equal opportunities and gender equality, i would like to think our ways of thinking have evened up more or less. we're singing a different tune these days, it's no longer he's-gonna-buy-me-a-diamond-ring mocking bird lullabye but i-buy-my-own-diamond-i-buy own-ring independent woman beat. ;)
