friday is funday

there is a rally going on right now, both lanes within the 5-meter radius of the ninoy aquino statue are filled with rallyists bearing anti-gma banners shouting what i could only presume are anti-gloria chants as well. their voices, though muffled, are still audible from the 10th floor, i could only imagine how loud they are had i been downstairs. i could even hear faint echos of 'hello garci'.
it's a good thing my officemates and i decided to take an early lunch, i don't know how we would manage to squeeze in through the crowd that has assembled at the paseo-makati intersection. we had to walk on our way back to work because the streets have been closed off and even the underpass so we had to take a longer route.i am crossing my fingers for a sudden, strong rain that will cause them to scamper and wash them off the streets of ayala.
i could only imagine what the expat community in the country are saying right now, they're probably laughing at us again or worse, contemplating of moving their business to another third-world country where labor is cheap and political condition is more stable.do these people even realize the ramnifications of their actions aside from the fact that they made me walk through the entire stretch of ayala avenue in high heels under the sweltering heat of the sun.i just hope they clear out before i get out of work. i wouldn't want my week to culminate with an encounter with them.

last friday, my officemates and i had dinner at tony roma's then desert at the pen. it was mostly just friends from work and one of my officemates brought along her husband and their baby. they were all wearing coordinated outfits in various shades of pink. the baby was cute and i would've loved to carry her but she always cried whenever i get near her.meanwhile, she absolutely adores my other officemate and laughs whenever he makes those funny faces and noises. we had two orders of the ice cream combo then divided ourselves into two teams. our team won of course and i surprised myself because i usually don't eat a lot during meals but i was a pretty voracious ice-cream eater.

wouldn't you be too if you were faced with this?

this is our pre-attack stance...

i just finished my abap training yesterday, finally allowing me to resume my contact with the world as well as to live a humanly life. i was in the office at 6 am yesterday working on the exercises and i had lunch at 2 pm after i finished the exam. there were not enough lan ports in the conference room so we weren't all able to connect to the sap boxes and work on the exercises. it felt good to program again, even to think about pass by value and pass by reference and nested loops again. one of my teammates in the developement team who was part of the trainor's pool said that if (and i think i finished most of the test items except for the formatting part which i was too lazy and hungry to work on)i passed, i would be the first person in the team to pass the test.it was a steep learning curve considering we had to learn most of the abap concepts in 3 days. and even if most them were non-programmers, it does give a boost to my ego especially since i have plans of moving to the development team. yey!i hope that prospective managers will be willing to consider me despite my non-abap working experience for my excellent performance during the training.

and yes, the rallyists are still there. unfortunately, no rain has come to wipe ayala clean. but it's a bit dark and cloudy outside, who knows.
