20/20 yet still seeking clarity of vision

an eye exam after, i learn that i am still part of the optic dream team, a group of people whose eyesight is considered perfect.i may not have the perfect nose or the perfect asymetrical face, not even the perfect eyes but i have this, the perfect eyesight.unfortunately, having that perfect 20/20 vision is no guarantee that i can see everything clearly, especially the ones that matter more.true, i can read a bus' sign 5-10 meters away but some things, despite the so-called perfect eyesight, are still obscured from my view like:

1.) how a 21-year-old professional(ahem) like me can still turn into fanatic, stalker and groupie to an 18-year-old
for the past few weeks, i've been rushing to get home at 10PM so i can catch starstruck and see chris martin.no, he's not the black comedian or the band member of coldplay.in case you're wondering why i know, yes, i googled him.during that same span of time, i've also been trying to catch a glimpse of him - from jollibee stores, tv guestings to their two gigantic billboards along edsa.after two days, i've trained my sights to focus on a certain area of the billboard where his picture is located.and for the past two days, i've officially become a fanatic, stalker and groupie and done the following:

  • added him as a friend in friendster(under a different account, of course)

  • joined every mailing list devoted to him(under a different email, of course)

  • read every forum about him or starstruck(again, under a different username)

  • downloaded every picture of him and saved them in a folder named after him

i have always owned up to the fact that i am a certified jologs(after admitting to watching jericho-kristine,claudine-rico, etc movies and being able to the dance the chorus of the viva hotbabes' bulaklak and sing along to many sexbomb hits, can i say otherwise?) but this takes the cake and has me plunging to the innermost depths of jologsville.

2.) why some people inadvertently say things that turn them into a perfect target for ridicule and joke
yesterday, moon-face, joined us for lunch in the conference room, turning our usually raucous and lively lunch hour into one uncomfortable and subdued affair.one officemate who also despised him and i were especially quiet although our eyes, glinting with wicked thoughts and malice, would meet during intervals in the conversation when he would say something ironically funny.
case 1:
officemate a: (too polite to speak out)ah e, hindi ko alam.'di ko masasagot yan.
me: (eyes meeting with evil officemate and thinking)ah eh kasi may x-factor naman si sandara at maganda siya
evil officemate: (also meeting my eyes and thinking)mahaba ang listahan, meron ka bang 10 years para pag-usapan natin yan?
(evil officemate and i tried to hide our devious grins)

case 2:
officemate b: ano nga ba yung aso na dapat panget para mas maging mahal?
moon-face: ah, yung bulldog.'pag mas panget, mas mahal.
(evil officemate snorts unable to suppress it)
evil officemate:(meets my eyes and thinking)gaya mo?so ibig sabihin mas mahal ka?
me: (meeting his eyes and thinking)that explains why you're ugly.

during our early-morning meeting:
officemate c:
so kulang tayo ng tao sa week na 'to during christmas break...
moon-face: ako na lang ang magsu-support for all issues
evil officemate, i and the rest of the team: (smirking and thinking)talaga lang ha?
moon-face: pero wala pala ako on those days...
evil officemate, i and the rest of the team: (smirking and thinking)like on most days kahit na regular working days?what's new?

3.) why despite my efforts to keep my "diet", news of a "dish" i have claimed to have outgrown can still disturb me enough
and though there is only the minutest possibility, almost bordering on non-existent, that this will be swept along the shores i intend it to reach, i will say it nonetheless:
that i knew and meant what i said.and the odds are, if i were to be asked that same first question,i will have the same answer.that even though what once was a day and a few bytes far may soon be just a hop, skip and a street away, i still can't help but feel that getting through those 1's and 0's is easier than crossing that street.but more importantly, i'm afraid that i might forget the healthy habits i have learned these past few weeks: to drink lots of water and a glass of milk, get eight hours of sleep, and to eat healthy.
