because i have to say these things
i now have a newfound sympathy for cops.in the mrt today, i saw a policeman wearing the no-kotong badge that according to recent news report aimed to discourage corruption.as if a badge can jump out and interfere when the cops are taking bribes.if people don't mind those no-parking signs, what more a badge a tenth of its size?the badge was designed like the no-parking sign with a red outline and a black line cutting diagonally across the word "kotong" instead of the letter "P".
i feel that this brilliant-if-you're-in-nursery idea is demeaning and insulting especially for cops because they're being treated like those snatchers or pickpocketers in posters in the mrt who are made to wear a "magnanakaw ako, wag akong tularan" sign.even worse, i begin to think that the sign is like one of those "beware of dogs" sign and instead they have a badge that implies "beware there's a buwaya" sign.it is so discriminating and reenforces the image that cops are perpetuators of corruption.it takes two to tango and there would be no bribee(is there such a word?) if there's no bribee(now i think i made this word up).besides, there are politicians. high-ranking military officials and big-time tax-evasing businessmen who steal even bigger amounts of money but the government isn't doing anything about it. they aren't made to wear a no-kotong badge either.
if you think about it, there is something "corrupt" in all of us, a tendency to take advantage borne out of a natural instinct to protect and promote our well-being.haven't we at one point in our lives taken advantage of something or someone or wittingly skipped a process just to make things easier for us?haven't you cut any lines before, took a shortcut?i know i did.this is not however to justify the corruption that is present, i refuse to say prevalent, among the police.i hate policemen who flag you down, keep you from your destination and impose some unbelievable violation on you.i agree that this has to stop.i just dont think that the badge, lousy and unintelligent an idea that it is, is the way to go.

and i have this to say to people who might be reading this and know that this is for them:
1.) i hate tardiness.i think that when people say they will be there during that time they say they will, they should be there.if you can't count on people to stick to their word on such a minute matter as time, how can you expect them to keep other bigger promises?
2.) not every unexpected event is as monumental as a coup d' etat, a civil war or death to keep people from keeping their dates. because if people keep putting off their plans for other unexpected circumstances or tasks they forgot to do, what's the point of making plans anyway?
3.) if there's a will, there's a way.where there's no will, there is an excuse.
4.) i only expect from people what i believe i can give myself.
5.) and yes, maybe you can't understand what i feel because you've been blessed enough not to have had to experience it.but if you did, then you should know that it's a terrible feeling you wouldn't want people you supposedly care about to go through especially when you can do something about it.
6.) it is always easy to give mutter an apology as much as it is to say you accept it.but to actually mean it by backing it up with a conscious effort to act on it, that's what's difficult.
