two and two together...
it's been almost a week since i turned 22(thank you by the way to everyone who's been kind enough to remember) and aside from the heightened awareness to grow up (or at least try), everything else has been pretty much the same.i feel pretty much the same.oh,except the fact that i want to go home now,for good.
it's been almost two years since i went went home because after i started work, i couldn't manage to squeeze in a vacation that was long enough for me to actually enjoy it.so my parents and my sisters take turns visiting me here.so last week, i flew home to celebrate my birthday with my family.
one of the things that struck me about being home(aside from how much i missed my family and how much i've missed) is how laidback and unhurried life was at home.here, i have to leave the house an hour or two earlier to get anywhere as compared to zamboanga where i can get downtown in 10 minutes and finish going through all the malls in less than an hour.but perhaps it has something to do with the fact that i live in charming farview.but i feel that the stress of commuting and rushing has finally gotten to me and now i just want to hie off to somewhere less complicated.and closer to my family.
the thing that keeps me from handing in my resignation letter and jumping on the next plane is finding a job that would suit me there.i have not saved enough money to allow me the luxury of becoming a bum for a half a year.besides, i wouldn't want to ask money from my parents anymore.
my easiest option would be to apply as a teacher in the ateneo there and lecture about the fascinating world of computers and programming.or if i'd be lucky enough, i could teach literature classes(like i dreamt the other day) and be the moderator for the school paper.i actually look forward to it except the pay which would probably be a third of what i currently earn.but my youngest sister lectures,"but ate, money isn't everything.at least you'll be with us."there's something about hearing people who have been around a little shorter than you say things you knew were true and right when you were their age.when i was a kid, i told myself it isn't all about the money and a few years later, i am obsessing about it.
my parents are suggesting that i put up a business while teaching on the side to keep me busy and of course, to earn extra cash.but aside from the fact that i absolutely no idea on what business to get into(aside from monkey, hehe),i have no idea how to start one, much less the capital to do so.besides, i am too much of a scaredy-cat to invest my money because i might not get it back.i won't even risk putting it on networking schemes i've been offered.
i'm thinking of working for the government(yes, i will soon be working with the enemy) but one, i don't know if i am ready to be disillusioned and frustrated with the whole process of applying which is highly political and two, if i do get in, i don't know if i can stand to be more disillusioned and frustrated by the corruption and katamaran prevalent in most government offices.my parents are suggesting that i take a civil service examination first(which i plan to schedule next week) and i'm thinking of taking up my masters too.so next week, i tell myself i will be looking into graduate studies options finally.so this year aside from my dreams of jitse, i will have to juggle being a student again too.aaargh.wish me luck.i hope i can accomplish this.
when i ask my parents jokingly if i can come home and bum for a while, they said it was ok.but i have too much self-respect and enough delicadeza to smooch off my parents especially with two sisters already in college and house renovations at hand.so i'm giving myself three more years to get things ready before i take my big homecoming leap.so in the meantime, i am writing myself notes about things i have to get in order(like my masters and my certfications) and reminding myself to save and not to spend too much.but i think the latter will have to wait a while because i'm off to bohol at the end of the month.oohlala.
